Martha Gabriela Driessen was born and raised in Mexico City and has lived in the United States half of her life. Bilingual and bicultural, Martha has maintained deep roots in her native Mexico and strong ties with her people. In the style of street photography and committed to black and white, Driessen’s work captures candid moments of everyday life on the streets around the world. In her recent work, she has been exploring the duality of her Mexican essence and her American reality. Her work is in private collections as well as the Minnesota History Center, the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, UNISA Galley at the University of South Africa in Pretoria, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
