Mikha Dominguez, aka Mikhamik is a Latinx visual artist, photographer, and sculptor who has resided in Minneapolis since 2014.Their early career was spent working in the Venezuelan national television industry as a Set Designer and Art Director. Recently, they were one of the artists included in the Twin Cities Pride in 2022 and 2023. Mikha’s work was part of the 20th anniversary of Strut (San Francisco AIDS Foundation) in the summer of 2023 and they were one of 20 artists selected for the Art Shanty Projects in 2023 and 2024. They are a Penguin Handler for the Luminary Loppet since 2020 they were part of the PELI department at the Walker Art Center from 2022 to 2024. Currently, Mikha’s work is being showcased at the MCAD Main Gallery for the MADE at MCAD show during the spring of 2024. Also, you can find their exhibition “Transmenniapolis,” which combines photography, collage, and installation, at the MCAD Library until April 2024. Mikha’s work can also be found in Volume 4 of “Sensitive Content,” a magazine exploring taboo subjects, challenging societal norms, and sparking conversations about controversial topics through in-depth articles, essays, and artwork. Their work is actively part of the community through “Mikhamik House of Arts,” a series of public access installations made by the artist on the façade of their home in South Minneapolis. Mikha is currently attending the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and teaching the workshop “Work of Art: Business Skills for Artists” at the Springboard for the Arts.
